The Palace of Italian Civilization, also known as Palazzo della Civilt del Lavoro, is one of the symbols of EUR district and is considered the architectural icon of the Roman 20th century and exemplary model of the monumentality of the neighbourhood.
A suggestive and detailed view over the rooftops of Rome in a wide-angle image taken from the terrace of the monumental staircase of Trinità dei Monti, better known as Spanish Steps, in the historic and baroque heart of the Eternal City. Rome, Italy - October 25, 2013: The Palazzo della Civilta Italiana, also known as the Palazzo della Civilta del Lavoro or the Colosseo Quadrato. The building is part of the Esposizione Universale Roma (EUR), a large business centre and residential complex outside Rome, Italy, initiated in 1935 by Benito Mussolini for the planned 1942 world exhibition and as a showcase for fascism and fascist architecture. The building itself was constructed between 1938 and 1942 and is clad entirely in travertine marble. At each corner of the square plot on which it stands are equestrian sculptural groups by Publio Morbiducci and Alberto de Felci.

A beautiful and suggestive evening view of Piazza Venezia with a large Christmas tree placed in the center of the square, seen from the top of the Altare della Patria National Monument, in the historic center of Rome. In the background, Christmas lights embellish the Via del Corso, considered the Central Avenue of Rome. Piazza Venezia is considered the heart of the Eternal City, with the confluence of some of the most important streets of the Italian capital and its proximity to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum and the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol). The Altare della Patria or Vittoriano is the Italian National Monument built in 1885 in neoclassical style between the Campidoglio and Piazza Venezia in honor of the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II. Inside is the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a National War Memorial dedicated to all Italian soldiers who died in the war. The Altare della Patria is the setting for all Italian civic celebrations, in particular the National Day of the Republic on 2 June and the Liberation Day on 25 April.
