Since 1974 the transporter bridge is a protected technical memorial. It's still working during the summer months for tourists, mainly for ciclyst which are underway in this region. The transporter bridge at Osten is one of two transporter bridges in Germany. The other once is in Rendsburg crossing the Kiel Channel.
