From Chittagong Sitakund area of Bangladesh to Sandip Island, thousands of people risk their lives every day to travel the stormy sea in wooden boats. Accidents often occur during this journey of 50 kilometers by sea. Many people have lost their lives at various times.

Aid groups warn of serious humanitarian crisis as almost half of Bangladesh had gone under flood water, forcing millions of people to flee their homes for shelters. In the photos taken from Shibaloy in Manikganj district, almost all the houses in the village are submerged leaving many people marooned on August 20, 2017. Farmers are bearing the brunt of the ongoing flooding as the country’s agriculture department estimated rice and other crops cultivated in half a million hectares of land in 34 districts, out of 64, were washed away.
