Selçuk, Turkey - Oct 15, 2022.  The Library of Celsus is an ancient library located in the ancient city of Ephesus, which is now part of modern-day Turkey. It was built in the 2nd century AD in honor of the Roman Senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus, by his son, Gaius Julius Aquila.
The Library of Celsus is one of the ancient Roman-style buildings in Ephesus, Anatolia.\nBuilt at the end of the 1st century AD it was destroyed by an earthquake and then the front facade was totally rebuilt for anastylosis during the 1960s and 1970s.

The Library of Celsus,  was built ca. AD 125 by Gaius Julius Aquila in memory of his father, and once held nearly 12,000 scrolls.  Along the entrances are four pairs of Ionic order columns raised by pedestals. Another set of Corinthian order columns stands directly above the first set  Ruins at Ephesus, Turkey. the third largest library in the ancient world and one of the most spectacular buildings in Ephesus.
