The Bible is the Word of God . It is the story of the creation of the world, the fall of man, and the coming of Christ to provide a way for man to once again have a relationship with God. The Bible includes the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is pre-Jesus, the New Testament begins with the birth of Jesus. In the Old Testament, we find so many stories that children begin learning at an early age: creation, Adam and Eve, Noah and the flood, Moses and the Israelites in the wilderness, Moses parting the Red Sea, Passover, David and Goliath, King David, Esther, Jonah and the big fish, and so many more. In the Old Testament, we learn the Ten Commandments, sacrifice, sin and forgiveness. Every word of the Bible was given by God and is true.

In each he was lifted high above the brothers. That made them angry. They sold him into slavery and told their father he was dead. Joseph ended up in the house of Potiphar. He was successful and honored in that house until Potiphar’s wife tried to persuade him to have an inappropriate relationship. He refused and she falsely accused him. Joseph landed in jail. He was there until Pharaoh had a dream and needed someone to interpret it. He called for Joseph. Joseph told him famine was coming to Egypt and what needed to be done to prepare. Again Joseph gained success and prominence in Egypt. His brothers came to buy grain. Joseph told them to return and bring back the youngest brother. He demanded one brother stay behind. He tested his brothers by hiding money in their grain bags. They returned the money. They did as instructed, brought back Benjamin. Again Joseph tested his brothers by hiding a goblet in Benjamin’s bag. When found, he insisted Benjamin stay behind. The brothers begged for mercy for their father’s sake. Joseph knew they had changed. He revealed his identity and was reunited with his brothers and father, Jacob.

Solomon was the son of David and Bathsheba. He became king when David was too old and sick to continue. He was considered a “wise” king. For example, one day two women came to him with a dispute. The women lived in the same house and both had baby boys. One on the boys had died accidentally when the mother rolled over on him in the night. The two women argued over who the remaining baby belonged to. Solomon thought about it and ordered the remaining child be cut in half, one half for each mother. The real mother of the child said “No don’t kill him, give him to her.” Solomon immediately gave the woman the baby because she had proved herself his mother. Solomon built a temple to the Lord. Unfortunately, he did not end his reign as well as he started out. He ended up being disobedient to God. He had multiple wives and concubines, he worshiped idols, and attempted to kill a man named Jeroboam. After Solomon died, his son Solomon became king.
