Fatsia japonica
Fatsia japonica, commonly called Japanese aralia, Glossy-leaved paper plant, Big-leaf paper plant, and Figleaf palm, is an evergreen shrub or small tree that is native to Japan. It is an attractive foliage plant noted for its palmately lobed glossy dark green leaves that typically have 7-9 deep lobes. Small creamy flowers in umbels bloom in fall, followed by black berries.

Deutzia scabra, commonly called fuzzy deutzia, is an upright, somewhat coarse, deciduous shrub that typically grows 6-10’ tall with spreading to arching branches that form a rounded crown. It is native to Japan. Mature branching is clad with exfoliating brown bark. Tiny, fragrant, star-shaped, white flowers (to 3/4” long) appear in late spring in upright racemose panicles (to 3-6” long) which cover the shrub for about two weeks. [Missouri Botanical Garden]

Fruit oblong, tapered towards the apex, 4-7mm, often purple.\nHabitat: Rough grassland, semi shaded places, on well drained soils, generally in low attitudes.\nFlowering Season: May-July.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe; absent from the Faeroes, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Spitsbergen.\n\nThis is a common Species in the Netherlands for the described Habitats.
