In Nabeul, every Friday you can visit one of North Africa's largest markets where you can buy pretty much anything. It is an authentic and vibrant shopping experience for traditional ceramics, spices, leather goods and textiles. The name of the market is still Camel Market, but nowadays without camels. They are obviously not needed anymore.I visited the market when there were still camels as this picture shows. The name was wrong anyway, because they didn't sell camels but dromedaries. Look at this lovely mother and child couple in front.

The King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, often referred to as the Mondial Miss Camel Pageant, is an annual heritage festival with various competitions held in Rimah near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It was founded in 1999 by a group of local Bedouin who decided to host a competition for the most beautiful camel. \n\nThe competition went on to receive support from the Saudi royal family and due due to its rising popularity, it was turned into a heritage festival with people from across the Gulf travelling to showcase their finest camels. Celebrating the culture and way of life of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bedouin traditions, today the festival attracts thousands of camels and enthusiasts. \n\nThe second edition of King Abdul Aziz Camel Festival was in early 2018 and had a series of cultural activities under the slogan: ‘Camels and Civilization’.

It is located in the Farafra depression, 45 km (28 mi) north of the town of Qsar El Farafra. Part of the park is in the Farafra Oasis (New Valley Governorate). The park is the site of large white chalk rock formations, created through erosion by wind and sand. It is also the site of cliffs (at the northern end of the Farafra Depression), sand dunes (part of the Great Sand Sea), as well as Wadi Hennis and oases at Ain El Maqfi and Ain El Wadi.
There is a large camel population in Merzouga, as one of the most popular activities offered to tourists visiting this desert area is sunset camel rides in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Although they are kept in captivity, they are allowed to graze freely during the day under the watchful eye of their herders in the distance.
