They were displayed at Villa Medici from 1576 and were subsequently (from 1789) placed on show at the open public space of Loggia dei Lanzi. Behind, in focus, is Perseus with the Head of Medusa by Benvenuto Cellini at Loggia dei Lanzi on Piazza della Signoria. This sculpture which is in a public space on a town square was built between 1545-1554.

Here are a few:\nScylla and Charybdis: These two sea monsters are depicted in a relief sculpture on the pedestal of the Neptune statue. They were said to have posed a great danger to sailors in Greek mythology.\nTwo Tritons: Two Tritons, which are mythological sea creatures with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a fish, are shown in a relief sculpture on the pedestal of the Neptune statue.\nRiver Gods: On the base of the statue, there are also four river gods that represent the major rivers of Tuscany: the Arno, the Mugnone, the Ombrone, and the Ema.\nAllegories of the Sea: Four allegorical figures, representing the winds and seasons of the sea, are shown in the corners of the pedestal.
