The species inhabits shallow rocky reefs. \n\nLike many starfish, Nardoa novaecaledoniae is an opportunistic feeder. It feeds on detritus, algae and small invertebrates such as mollusks or crustaceans. It may also scavenge on dead animals. \n\nTriton Bay, Indonesia \n3°54'3.384 S 134°6'26.448 E at 19m depth$
