The Nudibranch Tryon's Hypselodoris Hypselodoris tryoni occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean from Tanzania to the Society Islands and Indonesia to Japan and the Philippines, max. length 10cm. This species like all the members of the order Nudibranchia are simultaneous hermaphrodites with this mating behavior: Both individuals darts their penis toward each other to induce one to act as a male and the other as the female. The victorious one to penetrate the body wall is the dominant male. This specimen was encountered at the Iro Wreck. The oil tanker Iro, a 143 meter wreck since March 1944, WWII, was ordered by the Japanese Navy during the 1920´s building programs. Although heavily overgrown with black coral and sponges, the torpedo hole is still clearly visible. Jorunna funebris is a species of sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, a shell-less marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusk in the family Dorididae. \nAdult Jorunna funebris can vary from 15 mm to over 70 mm long, with an average length of 35 mm. The species feeds on the blue Haliclona Sponge, like this specimen does, other observations about feeding preference identified other sponges like blue Euplacella cf. australis, blue Xestospongia sp. and Oceanapia sp. \nJorunna funebris uses undigested food remains as a chemical defence. They are sequested into the jorumycin cyctotoxin, being found in the mucus of the Nudibranch. It follows this logic: I am very conspicuous and cannot escape.
