Lycoris radiata, alsocalled red spider lily. Originally from China, it was introduced into Japan and from there to the United States and elsewhere. It flowers in the late summer or autumn, often in response to heavy rainfall.

Native to Paraguay, Uruguay, Southern Brazil and Northern Argentina, Feijoa sellowiana is a slow growing, multi-stemmed evergreen shrub. Commonly called Feijoa, Pineapple guava, Acca sellowiana and Guavasteen, it can be trained to be a small tree with a single trunk, espaliered or pruned to form a dense hedge or screen. The flower season is from late spring to summer. Its flowers consist of fleshy white petals and showy red/scarlet stamens. The petals are edible. The green fruits mature in autumn and also edible.
