This is the pretty maritime flower sea pink growing on a grassy bank beside the sea at the tip of Cornwall. Thrift, marsh daisy or sea pink, (Armeria maritima), is one of the joys of walking the cliffs and headlands of Cornwall. It is classified as one of the sea lavenders. Sea thrift thrives on both rocky and sandy surfaces. Its abundance may be encouraged by its high tolerance to copper, one of Cornwall's many mined metals. However, this photo is taken in Cot Valley, where there used to be tin mining. This medium shot includes some of the beach pebbles plus waves breaking over rocks.
