It was already too dark, especialy the area under the first tree. So I decided to put a slave flash on the ground, right handed in front of me. Camera on tripod. Focus on front. After some practice I got this picture, which I really like. A bit confusing, because the natural sunlight comes from the left (see the tree all behind on the left) and the flash from right. But probable this is the fact what makes the pictures interessant.

These trees are called ‘Ulivi Secolari’, literally translating as ‘Centuries Old Olive Trees’. These trees as can be seen here, have large gnarled and twisted trunks that have been twisted by time, wind, sun and man. The region produces 40% of Italy’s olive oil and has 4 Denomination of Origin of Production (DOP) areas, Collina di Brindisi DOP, Dauno DOP, Terra D’Otranto DOP and Terra di Bari DOP. These are recognised by the European Union to protect the unique qualities and characteristics of each terroir.
