Microscopic image of Microscopic image of nymphaea of aqustio stem
Pollen is a powdery substance produced by most types of flowers of seed plants for the purpose of sexual reproduction. It consists of pollen grains (highly reduced microgametophytes), which produce male gametes (sperm cells). Pollen grains have a hard coat made of sporopollenin that protects the gametophytes during the process of their movement from the stamens to the pistil of flowering plants, or from the male cone to the female cone of gymnosperms.

Aspergillus fumigatus is one of the most common Aspergillus species to cause disease in individuals with an immunodeficiency. This pathogen primarily causes invasive infection in the lung.
Pollen grains from different plants, conputer illustration. Pollen grain size, shape and surface texture differ from one plant species to another, as seen here. The outer wall (exine) of the pollen in many plant species is highly sculpted which may assist in wind, water or insect dispersal. This pollen sculpting is also used by botanists to recognise plant species. Pores in the pollen wall help in water regulation and germination. These reproductive male spores produced by seed plants contain the male gametes. Pollen fertilises the female egg, with subsequent formation of plant seeds.

A model of the phospholipid bilayer structure that makes up living cells and their contents. Its raw, beautiful appearance evokes images of biology and biochemistry. It can be used in magazines and textbooks and on the covers of presentations.\nThis image was not created by AI.

Pollen grains from a variety of plants. Pollen grain size, shape and surface texture differ from one plant species to another. The pollen grains contain a male gamete (reproductive cell) that is intended to fertilise an egg or ovule (female gamete). This will initiate the formation of a seed for a new plant. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM), magnified x250 when printed at 10cm wide.

Photomicrograph of aluminum alum crystals in flower-like formations. Dry mount, 10X, reflected illumination. Note - very shallow depth of field, chromatic aberration and uneven focus are inherent in light microscopy.
The plant roots under the microscope
Squash preparation of stained onion root tip cells showing various stages of mitosis. Differential interference contrast optics on a Leica microscope, Image taken with the X40 objective lens. Depth of focus is extremely shallow (just a few microns). Differential interference contrast results in an optical slice horizontally through the specimen providing maximum possible resolution at this magnification and good contrast. Chromatic abberation is inevitable in light microscopy, but has been kept to a minimum in this image.
