Tube Anemone Cerianthus filiformis is a species of marine Cnidaria in the family Cerianthidae. The species is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the Indo- West Pacific in a depth range from shallow to 100m, has a stretched and muscularised body which can reach 35cm.Cerianthus filiformis lives in a mucous tube which is sunk in the soft substrate The animal shows only its tentacles to feed, usually at night time. The species feeds on small planktonic organisms, tiny crustaceans, larval forms, and other minute organisms drifting in the water column. The long, slender tentacles of Cerianthus filiformis are equipped with cnidocytes (stinging cells) that help capture prey.
