$Large, stately owl, with prominent ears, large yellow eyes and powerful talons completely covered in feathers.\n\nFemales larger than males. Color in general ranging from pale gray to dark brown. Barred lower parts (light and dark). Pure white throat quite prominent when inflated (vocalizing).\n\nVoice: Diverse repertoire. The typical song is a sequence of low notes “huuu, huu-huuú, huuu, huuu” usually produced with the beak closed and the throat inflated. The male normally emits 4 to 5 notes per sequence and the female, 6 to 9 notes higher. The interval between the sequence of notes varies according to the degree of excitement of the bird.$
