The clouded border (Lomaspilis marginata) is a moth of the family Geometridae. The species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in his 1758 10th edition of Systema Naturae. It is distributed across most of Europe to the Urals, western and central Siberia, Transbaikalia, Kazakhstan, Tian-Shan, northern Mongolia and parts of the Near East.\nDescription:\nThis is a very distinctive species with white wings marked with black blotches around the margins. The amount of black varies, with the males usually (though not always) having more extensive black areas than the females. Occasionally almost entirely white or black individuals are seen, although this is rare. The wingspan is 24–28 mm. Lomaspilis marginata is extremely variable. Linnaeus's form has complete black border to both wings, also on the forewing additional spots or patches at base and middle of costa.\nLifecycle:\nThe egg is yellow green, with hexagonal reticulation. The larva, pale green with darker dorsal lines and a purplish anal spot, usually feeds on aspen and sallow but has also been recorded on birch, hazel and poplar. The species overwinters as a pupa, sometimes remaining in this form for up to four years (source Wikipedia).\n\nThis Picture is made during a Walk in a Nature Reserve in the Province of Limburg in 2015.

Potanthus omaha, commonly known as the lesser dart, is a species of skipper butterflies.

Loxostege sticticalis is a species of moth in the Crambidae family.
Appearance:\nIt has a rusty orange colour to the wings, upper body and the tips of the antennae. The body is silvery white below and it has a wingspan of 25–30 mm. This butterfly is very similar in appearance to the Essex skipper (Thymelicus lineola). In the small skipper, the undersides of the tips of the antennae are yellow orange, whereas they are black in the Essex skipper. The black area on the lower edge of the upper wings also differs. Like the other orange grass skippers the male has a distinctive black stripe made up of scent scales.\n\nLife cycle and food plants:\nEggs are laid loosely inside grass sheaths of the caterpillars food plants from July to August. The newly hatched caterpillars eat their own eggshell before entering hibernation individually in a protective cocoon of a grass sheath sealed with silk. In the spring the caterpillar begins feeding. The favoured food plant is Yorkshire fog (Holcus lanatus), although other recorded food plants include timothy (Phleum pratense), creeping soft grass (Holcus mollis), false brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum), meadow foxtail (Alopecurus pratensis) and cock's foot (Dactylis glomerata). The caterpillars pupate near the base of the food plant in June with the first adults on the wing at the end of June, a week or two before the first Essex skippers. They are strongly attracted to purple flowers such as thistles and knapweeds.\n\nDistribution:\nThis butterfly's range includes much of Europe (east to the Urals, including Ireland, Britain and Scandinavia, and includes north Africa and the Middle East. It is typically occurring where grass has grown tall.\n\nThis Picture is made during a Long Weekend in the South of Belgium in June 2019.

Lycaena helle, the violet copper, is a butterfly of the family Lycaenidae. It is found from the Pyrenees to northern Norway and from Belgium east across the Palearctic to Central Asia, Siberia and Amur. The wingspan is 24–26 mm. The butterfly flies from May to July depending on the location.\nDescription from Seitz:\nC. amphidamas Esp. (= xanthe Lang, helle Schiff.). Smaller than the preceding forms, at the most as large as small phlaeas. Upperside dark brown, in the females of the spring brood the disc of the forewing reddish yellow, both wings with a sky-blue gloss, which is especially strong in the sun in live specimens. On the underside there is before the red submarginal band of the hindwing an always distinct bluish white lunate band, which in the female is usually continued on to the forewing and is accompanied by black dots. The summer-form obscura Ruhl is darker above and more yellow beneath. Otherwise the variability is less than in other Chrysophanus. Specimens from the high North have been separated as lapponica Backhaus, and Wheeler mentions that the gloss is more blue in some districts and more violet in others. — In Central and North Europe, from Belgium, Baden, and Switzerland eastward to Amurland and northward to Scandinavia and Lapland, sporadic and absent from large districts. \nEggs are laying in June and autumn on Polygonum bistorta (said to occur also on Rumex). The butterflies are on the wing in May and again in July and August in damp meadows, very plentiful at their flight-places. In the north the species is found especially in the plains, while in the south of its area it is more plentiful in the mountains, where it occurs up to 2000m (source Wikipedia). \nNowadays vulnerable in the South of Belgium and the Eifel.\n\nThis Picture is made during a long weekend in the Eifel (Germany) in June 2019.
