Red-lined Triggerfish or Orange-lined Triggerfish Balistapus undulatus occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea south to Natal, South Africa and east to the Line, Marquesan and Tuamoto Islands, north to southern Japan, south to the southern Great Barrier Reef and New Caledonia in a depth range from 0 to 60m, max. total length 30cm. Adults are territorial in coral-rich areas of deep lagoon and seaward reefs. They feed on a variety of benthic organisms such as algae, echinoderms, fishes, mollusks, tunicates, sponges, and hydrozoans. The caudal peduncle spines of this species are not the sharp, scalpel-like peduncular spines of the Surgeonfishes. Nevertheless it is a traumatogenic species, known to chase and bite intruders with sharp teeth, including divers, especially when guarding a territory. The caudal peduncle spines can deter predators by causing discomfort or minor injury if grabbed near the tail region. The strong jaws and dorsal spine are the primary defense. Moustache triggerfish (Balistoides viridescens) is a large species of triggerfish found in lagoons and at reefs to depths of 50 m (160 ft)
Adults of Napoleon Wrasse Cheilinus undulatus develop thick lips and a prominent bulbous hump on the forehead and can grow up to more than 2.2 meters. The species inhabits steep outer reef slopes, channel slopes and lagoon reefs. Primary food are mollusks, fishes, sea urchins, crustaceans and other invertebrates. Napoleon Wrasse is one of the few predators of toxic animals such as sea hares, boxfishes and crown-of-thorns starfish. Napoleon Wrasse is is seriously endangered, being hunted to the brink of extinction to feed a growing demand among wealthy Chinese diners for luxury live fish. Not wise, so crown-of-thorns starfishes take over and destroy the reefs. Palau, Micronesia, 7°8'0.39 N 134°13'12.99 E at 15m depth
Balistes vetula, the queen triggerfish or old wife, is a reef dwelling triggerfish found in the Atlantic Ocean

Rhinecanthus aculeatus - White barred or Picasso triggerfish swimming across the camera over a sandy ocean floor in vibrant underwater coral reef environment. The fish is very territorial and aggressive and has charged towards the camera displaying its striking blue body with yellow accents and black markings, moving near a textured sandy seabed dotted with small coral formations and marine debris. The scene captures the natural underwater habitat of Indo-Pacific reefs, with soft blue-green hues dominating the composition. This image suits commercial applications in marine biology textbooks, travel brochures for scuba diving destinations, environmental documentaries on ocean conservation, and educational content about coral ecosystems for authors and media outlets.
Halfmoon Picassofish or Halfmoon Triggerfish Rhinecanthus lunula occurs in the (sub)tropical Pacific Ocean from Queensland Australia to the Pitcairn islands in a depth range from 10 to 30m, max. length 28cm. The species prefers coral-rich areas that are not too exposed to strong currents, feeding on fishes, benthic invertebrates, algae and other organic matter. Halfmoon Picassofish is quite rare, not only in in French Polynesia. Tuhei Ava Passage of Tikehau, Tuamoto Atoll, French Polynesia 15°0'31.422 S 148°16'51.378 W at 13m depth
