A wide angle (14mm lens on full frame DSLR) view of the mountainous landscape of Jotunheimen National Park in Norway. A stream of water (or a small river) - from melting snow and ice - rushes down stairs of rocky ground and boulder making a waterfall with foam and splashing water on a warm sunny day in the summer (July). The winter season is long here and all snow and ice may not melt until July or August - or not at all. The mountainsides are covered with fresh green grass, ferns and bushes. Some patches of snow are still present. The sky is blue with white puffy clouds.

Snow and ice (of a small lake) are melting in the mountains of Norway in spring. The image was captured on Vikafjell (mountain) at mid/late May. A lot of snow is still covering the ground and most the lake is still frozen. Vikafjell is situated in the municipality of Vik (in Sogn) in the county of Sogn og Fjordane in Norway. National Road 13 runs from the town of Sandnes in Rogaland county to the municipality of Balestrand in Sogn og Fjordane county and passes this area. The road often closes during winter due to wind and heavy snowfall.
