Traditional black and white cobblestone paver tiles are set to form a curvy, swirling, rippling wave pattern. The irregular, rough paving stones and their varied patterns are distinctive characteristics of Lisbon and Portuguese culture. The undulating, repeating wave patterns are reminiscent of Op Art and can make a person dizzy.
