Established in 1908 as part of the area's Mormon settlement, the couple lived in a small log cabin for 17 years. Eventually, John and Bartha built a pink stucco house to live in and a log barn to house their cows and horses. They worked tirelessly to create a self-sufficient life in the Jackson Hole Valley. Today, the homestead stands as a cherished landmark within Grand Teton National Park, reflecting the resilience and vision of its pioneers. Moulton Barns also known as Mormon Row in the Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming

Thomas Murphy became one of the first Mormons from Idaho to settle here in 1908. Many of his original structures no longer survive and in 1920 he sold the property to Joe Heninger who remained for about 20 years. Eventually, Heninger sold his ranch to John Moulton, who passed it to his son, Reed. Reed and his wife Shirley stayed here until 1953 when John sold the properties to the National Park Service. Three generations of Moultons still made the ranch home until Reed's untimely death in a car crash in 1973. By 1976, the last Mormon Row harvest took place and on John's death at 103 in 1990, the NPS bought the land.
