The Medici Fountain (French: la fontaine Médicis) is a monumental fountain in the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. It was built in about 1630 by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France and regent of King Louis XIII of France.

The Medici Fountain (fr: La fontaine Médicis) is a monumental fountain in the Jardin du Luxembourg in the 6th arrondissement in Paris. It was built in about 1630 by Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV of France and regent of King Louis XIII of France. It was moved to its present location and extensively rebuilt in 1864-66.

$Paris France June 13 2025: The Medici Fountain (Fontaine Médicis) is one of the most romantic and photographed spots in Paris, located along the eastern side of the Luxembourg Gardens in the 6th arrondissement.\n\nCommissioned 1630 by Marie de’ Medici, widow of King Henri IV and mother of Louis XIII, she had the fountain built as part of the gardens of the Palais du Luxembourg, her new residence inspired by Florence’s Pitti Palace. The design and setting were modeled on Italian Renaissance grotto fountains she remembered from her youth.$
