Kolmanskop is a ghost town in the Namib in southern Namibia, ten kilometres inland from the port town of Lüderitz.

Kolmanskop was an active diamond mining community founded in about 1912 but by the mid 1920's the price of diamonds dropped, which essentially led to the demise of the town. Kolmanskop is an abandoned diamond mining in Southern Namibia. Its origin starts from when the first diamond in Namibia was discovered in 1908, in this area, leading to a rush of prospectors. The town did not last though with its decline starting as early as the 1920’s with large diamond deposits being discovered towards the South. The town was finally abandoned in 1956 and are now slowly being swallowed back by the desert.

Kolmanskop (Afrikaans for Coleman's head, German: Kolmannskuppe) is a ghost town in the Namib Desert in southern Namibia, ten kilometres inland from the port town of Lüderitz. It was named after a transport driver named Johnny Coleman who, during a sand storm, abandoned his ox wagon on a small incline opposite the settlement.
