Ceramic Nameplate Street Sign in the Medieval Village of Locronan an historic commune in the Finistère department of Brittany which became famous for it's textile industry, mostly centred on hemp cloth and sailcloth, The Town's red shield coat of arms features a pair of textile shears and two gold weaver's bobbins. The street sign, in French and the regional Breton language, a language that owes it's origins to Celtic, from the original Britains that fled here - and to Gaulish.The sign is decorated hand painted stylistically with floral decoration that is traditional to the heritage of Brittany and particularly the nearby Quimper which had a thriving ceramics industry.
