View of the Roman Theater in Petra, Jordan, an impressive archaeological structure carved into the natural rock formations by the Nabateans in the 1st century AD. This large amphitheater could seat thousands of spectators and reflects both Roman and local Nabatean architectural influences. Petra, Jordan - November 19, 2018 : On this magnificent archaeological site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, there is an ancient Nabataean city where the buildings are carved out of the red and pink sandstone mountains, fantastic engineering achievements and marvelously well preserved. Many tourists admire these remains and bedoins offer transport services on their donkeys, camels, carts for people who want to see the attractions without having to walk. On the photo, tourists are enjoying the beauty of this magnificent site near the theater.  The site was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Needless to say, this is the most popular tourist site in the country.
Petra, Jordan: The Great Temple at Petra is a grand monumental complex that lies south of the Colonnaded Street at Petra. It covers an area of approximately  7,560 m2. The complex was probably completed in the early first century AD, under the rule of Nabataean king Aretas IV, as suggested by architectural and sculptural details.
Petra, built around 300 B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, is the world famous archaeological site in Jordan's southwestern desert. Capital of the Nabatean Kingdom it seamlessly blends Arab style with Hellenistic and Roman or Byzantine architecture. Accessed via Al Siq, a narrow canyon, it contains tombs and temples carved into the pink sandstone cliffs, hence the 'Rose City' The most famous and iconic structure is Al Khazneh, a temple with an ornate Greek-style facade, also known as The Treasury
