he map puffer (Arothron mappa), also known as the map pufferfish, scribbled pufferfish, or Kesho-fugu, is a demersal marine fish belonging to the family Tetraodontidae. The map puffer is typically found in tropical and subtropical waters from the Indian Ocean to the western Pacific Ocean. This fish contains tetrodotoxin, a potent and deadly chemical compound used to ward off predators. Despite being highly poisonous, the map puffer can be found both in the aquarium trade and certain food markets.

Starry Puffer Arothron stellatus occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa eastward through Indonesia to the Tuamotus, northward to southern Japan, southward to Lord Howe Island in a depth range from 3 to 58 m, max. total length 120cm, common length 54cm. \nThe species is relatively uncommon in patch reefs and coral slopes near sandy areas of clear lagoon and seaward reefs. Juveniles occur in sandy and weedy inner reefs, adults on clear lagoons and seaward reefs. \nStarry Puffers are poisonous to eat for humans. \nLembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°28'56.394 N 125°15'15.588 E at 7m depth

The Yellow Boxfish Ostracion cubicus occurs in the tropical and subtropical Indopacific in lagoon and semi-sheltered seaward reefs in a depth range from 1-280m, but usually not deeper than 50m, max. length is 45cm. \nFrom the juvenile to the adult fish there is a big change in shape and color. This cube-shaped juvenile specimen would fit easily into a walnut. He swims over Flowerpot Coral Goniopora sp. \nThe omnivorous species feeds on marine algae, worms, crustaceans, mollusks, and small fish.\nOstracion cubicus is a solitary species considered relatively poor swimmer and for this reason, developed protection via toxin release: When stressed or injured it releases poisonous proteins from its skin that may prove lethal to any fish in the surrounding waters. The bright yellow color and black spots are a form of warning coloration (aposematism) to any potential predators. \nFlowerpot Corals Goniopora sp. occurs in the Indian and Pacific Oceans; from the coast of Mozambique, to the Red Sea, and east to northern Australia, southern Japan and Hawaii. \nThe appearance of this pretty coral belies its aggressive behavior. Colonies may be meters across and sometimes whole sections of a reef face are covered exclusively by one branching Goniopora species.\nLembeh Strait, Indonesia \n1°29'20.988 N 125°14'23.226 E at 22m depth

White-spotted Puffer Arothron hispidus occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific from the Red Sea and East Africa to Panama, north to southern Japan and the Hawaiian Islands, south to Lord Howe and Rapa islands, in the Eastern Pacific from the Baja California and the Gulf of California to Panama in a depth range from 1 to 50m, max. total length 50cm, max. weight 2kg. \nThe species inhabits outer reef slopes to depths of at least 50 m, inner reef flats and lagoons. Juveniles are common in weedy areas of estuaries, near rocky reef or on sand-stretches between reefs with low algae-rubble reef to about 20 meters depth, or in shallow with sparse seagrass growth. \nArothron hispidus feeds on fleshy, calcareous, or coralline algae, detritus, mollusks, tunicates, sponges, corals, zoanthid anemones, crabs, tube worms and echinoderms. \nThe species is toxic to predators and humans. If consumed, the tetrodotoxin (TTX) can cause symptoms like numbness, muscle weakness, respiratory failure, and even death. \nDespite their toxicity, pufferfish like Arothron hispidus are sometimes consumed in specific cultures (such as Japanese fugu), but only when prepared by licensed professionals who know how to remove toxic parts safely. \nLembeh Strait, Indonesia\n1°29'33.414 N 125°15'40.446 E at 17m depth
