Its showy, 5-petaled flowers appear from early summer to autumn, comparatively long period. The flower comes in such colors as pink, purple and white, each flower having a prominent and showy center staminal column. Its common names include Rose of Sharon, shrub althea, rose mallow and St. Joseph’s rod.
