This photo is taken on at lovely spring dag in late April. The whole forest floor was covert in wood anemones (Quinquefolia).

$Spring time in the Sussex woodlands is a time of green, flowering abundance and here I have come across a patch of wood anemones with a couple of lonely bluebells fighting their way through the white and yellow mass.\nWood anemones, anemone nemorosa, are a member of the buttercup family and are low lying with delicate green leaves and distinctive star shaped, white flowers, with yellow central anthers. The flowers can been seen to fold up at night protecting themselves from those cold spring mornings we sometimes get. The folded flowers often display a hint of purple on the rear of the white flowers.\nThe plants are said to be an ancient woodland indicator because the plant spreads slowly, less than 15cm a year, spreading via underground rhizomes.\nMy photos are largely taken using an Olympus E-M10 Mk2, which mostly has the 25mm F1.8 or 45mm F1.8 lens mounted. Some photos are taken with the older Olympus E-M10 Mk1 and older pictures with a variety of point and press cameras with the oldest taken on 35mm, mostly Olympus OM10.
