Selenicereus undatus, the white-fleshed pitahaya, is a species of Cactaceae and is the most cultivated species in the genus. It is used both as an ornamental vine and as a fruit crop - the pitahaya or dragon fruit. The native origin of the species has never been resolved.

Beautiful white lady-of-the-night flower with an intoxicating perfume and its opening occurs only at night. Photo taken at my homeThe lady of the night is a shrub, with a semi-woody texture and much appreciated for the intoxicating aroma of its flowers. It has an erect and branched stem, with sinuous branches, at first erect, but become pendulous at the ends. The lady of the night is a vigorous and fast-growing plant, it is usually used alone, but it does well in small groups. It can be used as a tree and climbed, also by pruning and tutoring, perfuming sidewalks, patios and covering arches, arches, trellises, among other supports. Monochrome serie : Cleome hassleriana (Cleomaceae), commonly known as spider flower, is a striking ornamental plant native to South America, particularly Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. Grown for its airy, spider-like flowers in shades of pink, white, or purple, it thrives in sunny, well-drained gardens, adding height (1-1.5 m) and a wild charm to borders or beds. It attracts pollinators but has a strong odor and can self-seed invasively. Traditionally, some Cleome species were used medicinally for anti-inflammatory or analgesic properties, though hassleriana has limited documented use and may be mildly toxic if ingested.

The species is commonly referred to as queen of the night, night-blooming cereus (though these two terms are also used for other species), large-flowered cactus, sweet-scented cactus or vanilla cactus. The true species is extremely rare in cultivation. Most of the plants under this name belong to other species or hybrids. It is often confused with the genus Epiphyllum.
