Here we see a large, venomous Stonefish (Synanceia verrucosa). It has camouflaged itself deep in the sand to await passing prey. Stonefish are the most venomous fish in the world and can be lethal to humans. Coral reefs are the one of earths most complex ecosystems, containing over 800 species of corals and one million animal and plant species. The location is Ko Haa, Andaman Sea, Krabi, Thailand.

This fish is red, although underwater the red color is the first color that disappears. So the fish believe in its camouflage to eat and as protection.

Crocodile Fish Cymbacephalus beauforti occurs in the tropical West Pacific in shallow waters from 1-12 m. The species, an ambush predator, lives on sand or rubble substrates of sheltered or semi-exposed reefs and is also found in coral reefs and mangrove areas. \nThe cirri (= leafy appendages above the eyes) break up the outline of the eye, so its much harder for their prey to spot them. Somehow looking a bit like a crocodile, this species is much smaller, the maximum length is 50 cm, but the common length is 35 cm. One Common Sea Cucumber (Bohadschia graeffei) is feeding on the coral reef. It is standing up to extract passing plankton from the sea. Sea cucumbers feed on algae, microscopic animals and waste. Their digestive system recycles particles back into the ecosystem. Image taken whilst scuba diving at Ko Haa, Krabi Province, Thailand. Sony mirrorless camera, with underwater housing and Scubalamp V6kPro lighting used.

In the Sea of Cortes, Mexico.\n\nThe Stone Scorpionfish is a species of marine fish that is known for its excellent camouflage, which allows it to blend seamlessly into its rocky habitat. It is a slow-moving fish that relies on ambush tactics to capture its prey.

Reptilian Snake Eel Brachysomophis henshawi occurs in the tropical Indo-Pacific Ocean in a depth range from 1-35m, max. length 120cm. The benthic species is found over sandy areas, usually near or within coral or rocky reefs. Reptilian Snake Eel feeds on fishes and crustaceans. At night, it is usually encountered with its head and even the anterior portion of its body protruding from the substrate. At day time, it often remains buried with only the tip of its snout and the top of its head projecting from the sand or mud: this specimen was encountered like that shortly after sunset. \nBanda Neira Island, Indonesia, \n4°31'20.574 S 129°53'55.134 E at 3m depth
