The Pengra Covered Bridge, located in Lane County is a historic wooden bridge that spans Fall Creek. It was originally built in 1904 by a local bridge-building firm and was named after the nearby community of Pengra, which was itself named after a local family. The bridge served as an important transportation link for the area, allowing travelers to cross Fall Creek and access nearby towns. Like many covered bridges of its time, the Pengra Covered Bridge played a significant role in the development of Lane County and the surrounding region, facilitating commerce, settlement, and social connections. In 1987, the bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places, recognizing its significance as a cultural and architectural landmark. The Currin Bridge, built in 1925, spans the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. It is a picturesque covered bridge with a rich history that reflects the state’s early 20th-century rural infrastructure development. The Currin Bridge is named after the Currin family, who were prominent pioneers in the area. It replaced an earlier bridge constructed in 1883 that was eventually deemed inadequate. One distinctive feature of the Currin Bridge is its two-tone color scheme: white with red trim, unique among Oregon's covered bridges. The bridge was closed to vehicles in 1979 but remains open to pedestrians, and it has been maintained as a historic landmark. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it has been carefully preserved, allowing visitors to experience a piece of Oregon’s transportation history firsthand.
