Bengal currant (Carissa carandas) is a flowering shrub in the family Apocynaceae. Also known as Christ's thorn, Carandas plum, Karonda, Karanda and Kanna, it produces berry-sized fruits that are commonly used as a condiment in Indian pickles and spices.
