Fomes fomentarius (L. ex Fr.) Kickx Echter Zunderschwamm Amadouvier, Hoof Fungus or Tinder Bracket. Bracket 5–45cm across, 3–25cm wide, 2–25cm thick, hoof-shaped, hard and woody, usually discrete but several fruit bodies may occur on the same trunk; upper surface with a hard horny crust, concentrically grooved and zoned grey. Flesh hard, fibrous, cinnamon-brown. Taste acrid, smell slightly fruity. Tubes 2–7mm long in each layer, rusty-brown. Pores 2–3 per mm, circular, light grey-brown darkening when handled.\n\nHabitat usually on birch in Scotland and Northern England, but also on beech (in the Netherlands). The few record from Southern England are mostly on beech and sycamore. Season sporulating in spring to early summer, perennial. Quite common in the Netherlands on Birch and Beech. Not edible. Distribution, America and Europe (source R. Phillips).\n\nThis is a beautiful Wood Fungus on dead Wood of Beech ( Fagus sylvatica) and Birch (Betula pendula). This one grows on a Trunk of Beech.\n\nIn earlier Days, the inner Part of the Fungus was used to make Fire.

Trametes versicolor (also Coriolus versicolor, Polyporus versicolor) is a common bracket-style fungus that is common throughout the world. Like Joseph's coat, it is characterised by having many colours, and together with its spreading shape it gains the common name turkey tail. Trametes versicolor is a polypore fungus that grows on dead trees and logs.

On a sunny day in April 2024, a mushroom called \

Coriolus versicolor (L. ex Fr.) Quél. syn. Trametes versicolor (L. ex Fr.) Pilát. Turkey Tail, Schmetterlingsporling Lepketapló (tapló) Polypore versicolore, Manyzoned Polypore. Bracket 4–10cm across, 3–5cm wide, 0.1–0.3cm thick, leathery, usually forming large overlapping tiered groups; upper surface velvety becoming smooth with age, colour very variable, concentrically zoned black-green, grey-blue, grey-brown or ochraceous-rust, with a white to cream margin. Flesh tough and leathery, white. Taste and smell not distinctive. Tubes 0.5–1mm long, white drying yellowish. Pores 3–5 per mm, circular or irregularly angular, white, yellowish or light brown. Spores straw-yellow, ellipsoid, 5.5–6´1.5–2m. Hyphal structure trimitic. Habitat on deciduous wood. Season all year. Very common. Not edible.This is a very variable species and some authors recognize several forms. Distribution, America and Europe. This is a very common Species in the Netherlands, growing on Trunks and Branches of deciduous Wood.Coriolus versicolor is a mushroom used in traditional Asian herbal remedies. There is some scientific evidence that substances derived from parts of the mushroom may be useful against cancer (source Internet).
