Two adult male Kodiak grizzly bears, or Alaskan brown bears - Ursus arctos middendorffi - stand head to head in tense anticipation of a fight. Both bears are just below center frame in a horizontal composition, one a bit higher than the other atop a grassy rise, the other on the side of the grassy rise. Hackles are not up, but it is evident that there is developing friction. Two main colors in the image - the honey brown color of the bears against a mostly green grass background.
