$Tall, tufted, hairless perennial to 2m; stem base corn-like. Leaves mostly basal, linear, dark greyish-green, flat, 3-6mm wide; leaf-sheaths closed at the throat. Flowering stems about two-thirds the length of the leaves, the female dark reddish-brown, becoming mottled with age, clearly separated from the male flowers by a gap of 3-8cm.\nHabitat: Freshwater margins, swamps, often forming extensive patches.\nFlowering Season: July-August.\nDistribution: Throughout Europe, north to C Scandinavia.\n\nUsed in some countries for thatching roofs.\n\nThe Species is less common than Bulrush (Typha latifolia) in the Netherlands.$

De gootvormige bladeren zijn 1-2 mm breed. De onderste bladscheden zijn strokleurig, lichtbeige of wit. \nHabitat: Dwergzegge komt voor op natte, zoete tot brakke, matig voedselrijke grond vooral in duinvalleien en op groene stranden. \nFlowering Season: De hoofdbloei van de dwergzegge valt in mei, juni en juli.
