Australian water dragons have long powerful limbs and claws for climbing, a long muscular laterally-compressed tail for swimming, and prominent nuchal and vertebral crests. A nuchal crest is a central row of spikes at the base of the head. These spikes continue down the spine, getting smaller as they reach the base of the tail.

Monitor lizards are lizards in the genus Varanus, the only extant genus in the family Varanidae.
The Dwarf Bearded Dragon, Pogona minor ssp. minor, is a species of lizard in the family Agamidae. It is found in the southwest coast and interior of Western Australia. This taxonomic name includes the widespread type known as western bearded dragon, Pogona minor minor, and the subspecies, Pogona minor minima, confined to the Wallabi Group of islands.\n\nThe Dwarf Bearded Dragon is a small lizard, reaching a maximum length of 38 cm (15 in) in total length (including tail). The head is relatively small and the body is stout. The scales are smooth and have a granular texture. The coloration is variable, but is typically brown or tan with darker markings. The underside is paler.\n\nThe Dwarf Bearded Dragon is a diurnal lizard and is active during the day. It is a herbivore and feeds on a variety of plants, including grasses, leaves, and flowers. It is also known to eat insects and other small animals.\n\nThe Dwarf Bearded Dragon is a solitary animal and does not form social groups. It is territorial and will defend its territory from other lizards. The breeding season is from September to December. The female lays a clutch of 10-20 eggs, which hatch after about 60 days.\n\nThe Dwarf Bearded Dragon is a popular pet and is relatively easy to care for. It requires a warm enclosure with a basking spot and a cool hide. It should be fed a diet of insects and vegetables. The Dwarf Bearded Dragon is a hardy lizard and can live for up to 20 years in captivity.
