Photo shows three bighorn sheep - two on the road side, and one on the road. They are licking salt that has been put on the road to reduce ice build up during the winter. Salt is a mineral they need to survive. A large commercial truck is moving fast toward the sheep. There are signs warning drivers to be cautious of the sheep, but with many concrete quarries in the area the sheep face death and injury from large fast moving vehicles on the road to ensure the business production keeps moving. Near Canmore, Alberta, in the Rocky Mountains.

In an unusual occurrence, A group of dall sheep leave the cliffs to venture down the mountain to eat the last of the seed pods in fall. The early snow may have caused a sense of urgency to stock up. The sheep are foraging and gorging on the seeds. Many seeds end up sticking to their coats. Soon these ewes will make their way back up to the safety of the cliffs.

The Dall sheep have come down from the rocky Chugach cliffs to search for the last seeds. Digging in the late fall snow, these sheep are storing up for the lean winter months ahead.
