The brewery was on the south bank of the Thames, not far from where the lion currently stands.\nWhen the brewery was demolished in 1950, the red paint was removed and, at the request of King George VI, one of the Sculptures was placed in front of Waterloo station. Only in 1966 was the lion moved to Westminster Bridge.
