Elmina, Ghana: crenulated ramparts of São Jorge da Mina Castle, also known as Mina or Feitoria da Mina, built by Portugal in 1482. First established as a trade settlement, the castle later became one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade. The Dutch West India Company seized the fort from the Portuguese in 1637, and took over all of the Portuguese Gold Coast in 1642. The slave trade operated under the Dutch until 1814. In 1872, the Dutch Gold Coast, including the fort, became a British possession - colonial architecture - UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A dhow is a traditional sailing vessel which is used by fishermen on Zanzibar island. Zanzibar is situated in the Indian Ocean and is a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania in East Africa. Tourists enjoy sunbathing and swimming at the white sandy Beach Nungwi, which is situated in the north of Zanzibar Island. The Indian Ocean has clear water and the beach has a beautiful scenery.
