In the vast desert area of New Mexico in the White Sands National Park area, blooming soap weed yuccas are a wonderful sight. The area is in the Tularosa basin area with San Andres Mountains to the West and Sacramento Mountains to the East. Drifts in the the dunes can be 10' to 60' high. The dunes are a magical and unusual place in the Southwest. The wind-created ripples create a stunning visual of shadows of light and dark. As day light shifts into evening there is a stillness and a pastel glow of light on the sand and yuccas.

The Taklimakan Desert, located in the center of the Tarim Basin in southern Xinjiang, is the largest desert in China and the tenth largest desert in the world; It is also the second largest mobile desert in the world.\nThe entire desert is about 1,000 kilometers long from east to west and 400 kilometers wide from north to south, covering an area of 330,000 square kilometers. The annual average precipitation is no more than 100 mm, the lowest is only 4 or 5 mm; And the annual average evaporation is as high as 2,500-3,400 mm. \nOn both sides of the Tarim desert highway, several hundred kilometers, the sand-fixing plant haloxylon ammodendron was planted, using drip irrigation technology.\nDead Euphrates poplar trees are sometimes seen in the desert. I don't know how many years have passed. \nAs a result of the wind, the surface of the desert takes on strange patterns.\nOn the surface, the desert seems dead, but inside, it's full of life.

Several flower spikes of the giant, ground-dwelling Blue Puya Bromeliad (Puya berteroniana), called the Chagual in Chile. A close relative of the pineapple this Bromeliad is unusual in growing rooted in earth rather than being an epiphyte on the branches of a tree. It is also very unusual in the Plant Kingdom in having turquoise flowers, which are usually pollinated by hummingbirds when the plant produces its one and only flower spike after about five years of growth and then dies. The species is endemic to Chile.
I painted acrylic colors on white paper and I folded the paper together similar to the rorschach inkblot method that create the texture of mixed acrylic colors.
