It is located on a peninsula rising approximately 250 meters from the sea. The length of its walls is 6.5 kilometers in total. The road passing through the walls was built in the settlement of Alanya, which was called Kandeleri in ancient times, during the Hellenistic period. The history of the castle, which is a 13th century Seljuk artifact, dates back to the Hellenistic period. \nThe castle was built by Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, who took the city and had it rebuilt in 1221. There are 83 towers and 140 bastions in the castle. In the Middle Ages, about 1200 cisterns were built to meet the water needs of the city, which was inside the walls. Some of the cisterns are still in use. The walls were built in a planned manner, passing the Tophane and Tersane, and ending in Kızılkule, following Ehmedek, İçkale, Adam Atacak, Cilvarda cape, Arap Evliyası and Esat Bastion.
