$Flamboyant cuttlefish Metasepia pfefferi occurs in sand and mud substrates in tropical East Indian Ocean and Western Central Pacific in a depth range from 3-86 m, max. length excluding the tentacles 6cm. This species is the only venomous cuttlefish and one of only three known venomous species of cephalopods. Males have a modified arm, a hectocotylus, specialized to transfer spermatophores to the females. To predators Flamboyant cuttlefishes display their array of colors as a warning that they are toxic.
