Grey Reefshark or Blacktail Reef Shark Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos occurs in the Indo-West and Central Pacific on continental and insular shelves and oceanic waters adjacent to them. The species is common on coral reefs, often in deeper areas near drop-offs to the open sea, in atoll passes, and in shallow lagoons adjacent to areas of strong currents in a depth range from 1-275m. Max. length female 172cm, male 255cm. Palau announced 2009 world's first shark sanctuary, banned all commercial shark fishing within its exclusive economic zone. 600000 sq km (230,000 sq mi) of ocean are protected now. As a result, divers see more sharks here than almost anywhere else! A Live Sharksucker Echeneis naucrates is attached at this specimen.
