When the level of water in Lake Mead behind Hoover Dam drops, it leaves a white strip on the mountain side.  This caused by mineral deposits.
The dried and caked former lakebed of Lake Mead near Las Vegas, Nevada. This lake is a strong representation of global warming, climate change, drought, environmental disaster, water shortage, and many other manmade ecological disasters.
Lake Mead is a reservoir formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the southwestern United States. It is located in the states of Nevada and Arizona, 39 km east of Las Vegas.\nIt is the largest reservoir in the US in terms of water capacity. Lake Mead supplies water to the states of Arizona, California and Nevada, as well as some of Mexico, providing sustenance for nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland.
Mountain slopes surrounding the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead reservoir appear in this horizontal composition separated visually into three sections - foreground at bottom and right, mid-distance slope to the left and a larger mountainous section in the background.  Earth-tone colors include browns, tans and pale orange, with slate-blue water at the bottom.   The perspective creates converging natural lines that merge just left of center near the bottom.
