Nouméa, South Province, New Caledonia: D'Entrecasteaux oceanic patrol ship - first of its class, named after the French navigator Antoine Bruny d'Entrecasteaux, an overseas support and assistance vessel (BSAOM), aka multi-mission vessel (B2M), designed to perform sovereignty, law enforcement and logistics missions - developed and produced by Kership, built at the Piriou shipyard in Concarneau. The d'Entrecasteaux class vessels can be armed with two 12.7x99 mm (.50 cal.) machine guns.

Gulf of Mexico, USA - July 31, 2009: TransOcean's oil rig "Deepwater Horizon". The supply vessel "Damon B Bankston" operated by Tidewater is next to it. The rig made a record oil discovery for BP at the Tiber Prospect, GOM in 2009. The rig suffered a blow out while drilling at the Macondo Prospect in April 2010, then caught fire and sank  killing 11 and creating the worst oil spill ever in the Gulf of Mexico.
