Paramaribo, Suriname: Tzedek ve-Shalom also written as Zedek ve Shalom ('Peace and Justice') synagogue was built in 1736 for the Sephardic Jewish community. The synagogue was in use until 1999, when the remaining Jewish community merged into the Neveh Shalom Synagogue. Part of the interior was transported to Israel and is included in the collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. The structure is inspired by the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam (the 'Esnoga'). The white-painted wooden building is built in neoclassical style with arched windows. In recent years it has been used for offices. Paramaribo historic inner city.
