The Hagia Sophia Mosque in Trabzon, originally built as a church in the 13th century, features stunning frescoes and architectural details. This historical site reflects the rich cultural and religious history of the region, attracting visitors from around the world.
The Church of the Holy Saviour in Chora is considered to be one of the most beautiful surviving examples of a Byzantine church. The majority of the fabric of the current building dates from 1077–1081.  In the 16th century, during the Ottoman era, the church was converted into a mosque and, finally, it became a museum in 1948.
