It is between the two main streets Siam and Jean Jaurès, separated by the Place de la Liberté. Initially, it was a green space created by Mathon. It was redesigned in 1999 by the architect Bernard Huet who dug the space to allow Square Mathon to communicate with the Place de la Liberté. The site revealed the remnants of the ramparts of the old city: a stretch of paved road, a counterscarp, a remnant of the advance of the Saint-Louis gate, a moat.
