Architecture by Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, in the early phase of his activity. The architecture is characterized by travertine pilasters that stand out on the brick walls. This Basilica, built on the Celian hill from the 4th century in the early Christian era, is also known as the Cathedral of Rome and is the most important and ancient basilica in the Western world. Inside the apse a series of magnificent Byzantine mosaics depicting the emperor Constantine, while the central nave was designed in the Baroque period by Francesco Borromini.
