Cotonou, Littoral Department, Benin: Cotonou, the largest city and economic hub of Benin, is situated along the Gulf of Guinea. It serves as the de facto capital, housing the president and most government ministers, although Porto-Novo is the official capital. Located between the Gulf of Guinea and Lake Nokoué, bodies of water that connected by Contonou lagoon, which in turn divides the city in two (center of the image). Cotonou is known for its bustling port, the Autonomous Port of Cotonou, which is crucial for trade in the region. The city also features industries such as brewing, textile production, and palm-oil processing.
